Cyclisme: Le Bénin à l'une des courses cyclistes la plus difficile en Afrique
Du 23 au 29 janvier 2023, l’équipe nationale du Bénin composée de six couleurs a pris part à la 16e édition de la Tropicale Amissa Bongo, au Gabon. D’une manière générale les coureurs béninois se sont bien comportés car, ils ont assuré en terminant la course face aux amateurs africains et professionnels européens. Cinq ne sont pas arrivés hors délai et seul Kinnouhezan Honoré a abandonné lors de la 6e étape pour des raisons de santé.
Cette résistance, qui témoigne de leur combativité sur un Tour professionnel, version 2.1 n'est pas passée inaperçu surtout qu’il s’agit des jeunes présents au Gabon pour apprendre aux côtés des professionnels. « Tous les matins quand nous nous levons, nous nous disons qu’on doit terminer l’étape du jour », avait lancé en pleine compétition sur un média français, Glorad Saïzonou.
